The Professional Healthcare Program in local hospitals in Nepal is available to medical professionals, medical students, nurses and trainees in any area of medicine. All volunteers will have the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge into practice, in addition to providing a much-needed service to the local Nepali community. You will experience first hand how basic medical care works in a developing country and how to contribute exchanging skills. Each week of your volunteering you have the possibility to be in a different room and get to know the day to day work made in Hospitals and Health Centers in Nepal.
Understand the reality of medical care in Nepal in order to empower local doctors and nurses through specific best practices.
Implement a health promotion programme that meets community needs, has clear and measurable goals, and is understandable by everyone.
Assist local doctors and nurses with day to day tasks, such as taking the height, weight and blood pressure measurements of patients.
During patients check-ups, volunteers can provide advice regarding nutrition, health, and sanitation.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to perform more hands-on tasks such as treating minor injuries as well as cleaning and bandaging wounds.
Qualified volunteers may request to work in their area of expertise or training; however, it is important to note that volunteers are only able to perform tasks relevant to their skills and qualifications.
Content on best practices and innovative methodologies in health to develop workshops in your area of expertise.
